The only thing that satisfies our deepest longing

No one ever loved like Jesus.

Throughout His earthly ministry, He demonstrated perfect love to all kinds of people—including those who had earned a reputation for their sin.

One of the more notable examples was the Samaritan woman He met at the well in John’s gospel. Rabbinical tradition from that time would have compelled Jesus never to speak to such a woman. But He did—in public even—and He didn’t hesitate for one moment to share His life-giving truth with her.

Pointing to the water in the well, He told her,

“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:13–14).

Jesus demonstrated time and again that He had a heart for sinners like this woman. He loved those who had fallen for the “love lie”—the idea that their longing to be loved could be fulfilled by indulging in sin. Instead, He showed them true and perfect love by opening His arms to offer them hope and grace.

But even beyond the Samaritan woman, Jesus expressed the grace and love of God to everyone He met. And still today, by His Spirit in your heart, He’s empowering you to show that same love and grace to others daily.

Because divine love is the only thing that satisfies the deepest longing of our hearts.
