TEACHING SERIES

Living in the Word

Stuart and Jill Briscoe

If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:31-32

Even though the Bible continues to be the leading best seller, fewer people are actually reading it. Western society is becoming more secular, and as a result, the Bible is becoming less influential, particularly among young people. Why? When asked, they say it’s because it’s not relevant to the modern world; they don’t have time to read it; and when they do, they don’t understand what they’re reading.

That’s unfortunate because God’s Word is just as powerful and life changing today as it has always been! In this series by Stuart and Jill Briscoe, they teach about the importance of engaging with the Bible and how it’s vital in deepening your relationship with Christ and with others.

Messages From This Series:

Even though the Bible continues to be the leading best seller, fewer people are actually reading it. That’s unfortunate because God’s Word is just as powerful and life changing today as it has always been!

Scripture: John 8:31-8:38

What does it mean to live in the Word? How do you hear His voice and apply it to your daily life? Jill Briscoe shows us that it starts with bringing your heart, your mind, and your will when you sit down and spend time reading His Word. Psalm 119:18 says, Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.

Scripture: Psalm 119

The Word of God tells us that there are two life roads—one leads to eternal life, the other to eternal death. There is an art to staying on the right road. There will be pitfalls and enemies who seek to trip us up and distract, divert, and destroy us along the way. But Jill Briscoe shows us that the Holy Spirit will guide, direct, and empower us to keep on walking in the everlasting way!

Scripture: Psalm 119:9-119:15

Even though the Bible continues to be the leading best seller, fewer people are actually reading it. That’s unfortunate because God’s Word is just as powerful and life changing today as it has always been!

Scripture: Psalm 119:169-119:176

Which side of truth do you find yourself—a relative truth or an absolute one? When Jesus would talk about His Word, what He meant was His message in its totality. So, what Jesus is really saying is that if you feel at home, if you settle down, if you live permanently, if you begin to dwell in the sum totality of my teaching, you will know the Truth. What does living in the Word look like? Stuart Briscoe shows us that it looks like worship based on the Word, faith based on the Word, and obedience based on the Word.

Scripture: John 8:31

Jesus came to set us free, so why are so many today living in spiritual bondage? Jesus says, “If you want to know what Truth is, I am the embodiment of it.” What you need to know is this: When you have accumulated all the information concerning what is true, you will then need to take a further step and realize that Jesus, when He lived here, was the living embodiment of all that He said was true. Stuart Briscoe shows us that it wasn’t just that Jesus said the Truth—He was the Truth. Jesus is the Truth, and He will set you free.

Scripture: John 8:31-8:41
