In John 9, Jesus contrasts physical blindness—which he deeply cared about and often healed—with the far more dangerous condition of spiritual blindness. We are born unable to see God’s truth, but when the Holy Spirit opens the “eyes of our heart,” we move from darkness into sight and begin walking confidently in the spiritual reality that lasts forever.
