Up Close and Personal

Pete Briscoe

If you're longing to hear the voice of Jesus and understand Him both as the Son of Man and the Son of God, there's no better place to start than the Gospel of John. Why? Because John was Jesus' best friend. He's described in Scripture as the one whom Jesus loved. And John is likely the disciple leaning on Jesus' chest during the Last Supper, a sign of a close and intimate relationship. As Jesus' best friend, John is uniquely qualified to share with you the heart, mind, and character of Jesus.

In Up Close and Personal, Pete Briscoe takes you through the Gospel of John where you'll get to see Jesus living life and dealing with the highs and lows that came with it. You'll see how Jesus dealt with discouragement and disappointment, exhaustion and loneliness, the same circumstances you experience every day. This series will help you take your relationship with the Savior to a new level. He is waiting to walk alongside you at all times, just as He did with John.

In this deep series by Pete, you'll meet Jesus in a way you may never have before... through the eyes of His best friend.

  2. 2. The Most Important Miracle

    Pete Briscoe

Many people stumble over the miracles of Jesus—the atonement, the resurrection, the virgin birth, the Gospel miracles, walking on the water, feeding the 5,000, the ascension. But those things are nothing compared to this stumbling block—the incarnation. The real difficulty does not lie in Good Friday's atonement or in Easter Sunday's resurrection. The real difficulty lies in Christmas Day's incarnation—the "infleshment" of God.

As found in John 1:1-14, the staggering Christian claim is this: That Jesus of Nazareth, the man, was actually God, made man. That he took on humanity without the loss of deity so that Jesus was as fully divine as he was human.

    Scripture:  John 17

  11. 19. The Crux

    Pete Briscoe

The cross is a popular symbol—we see it on jewelry or as decorative detail on accessories. In amongst these everyday appearances, it's easy to forget the incredible, important work accomplished through Jesus' death on the cross. In this message, Pete explains what the cross of Christ meant and what impact it had on all of us.

    Scripture:  John 19:16 - 19:42

  12. 20. What a Difference a Resurrection Makes

    Pete Briscoe

Jesus' resurrection is an incredible story and a crowning touch on the Gospels. But the truth is so much deeper than one man's rising from death—all of us are dead in our sin and in need of resurrection! Once we entrust ourselves to Jesus, He meets us where we are and gives us abundant, eternal life. In this message, Pete looks at three of Jesus' followers and their life-bringing interactions with Him shortly after His resurrection.

    Scripture:  John 20

  13. 21. Back in the Game

    Pete Briscoe

At some point, we all fail—in relationships, at work, in ministry. While this is a fact of life, sometimes we believe Satan's lies that once we fail, God will not bless us, continue to use us, or be glorified through us. But even Jesus' disciples failed Him! And Jesus still used them to carry out His work. In this message, Pete teaches us through Jesus' interaction with His disciples after the resurrection how to keep traveling down the path He has for us even after we've failed.

    Scripture:  John 21
